OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN AND IMAGINIS LEAD AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TO BATTLE BREAST CANCER
Upland, CA, October 6, 2008 - Four-time Grammy winner Olivia Newton-John's new Liv.com Web site and Imaginis.com, the award-winning online women's health resource, are collaborating to increase awareness among women about early detection and good breast health.
Liv.com leverages the inspirational power of Newton-John's personal battle with breast cancer with the extensive, credible content from Imaginis.com, a comprehensive online resource for information on women's health. Newton-John and renowned breast cancer surgeon Ernie Bodai, M.D., F.A.C.S., join forces on Liv.com in a campaign to address a global audience on the importance of early detection and good breast health, and to distribute one million units of the Liv Aid ®, a breast self-exam aid that assists women to exercise breast self exams correctly.
"Knowledge is power and Imaginis.com helps Live.com provide women with the answers to their questions about breast cancer so they can better understand their own breast health," said Newton-John, whose cancer was diagnosed in 1992, and who is now cancer-free.
Imaginis.com CEO John H. Molloy said, "The inspirational story of Olivia Newton-John gives women hope. That hope, combined with our easy-to-understand content about complex medical issues empowers women to take control of their health," he said.
Newton-John credits her own breast self-exam as the first step to her eventual diagnosis of breast cancer. Now, 16 years later she has become a passionate advocate in creating awareness for early detection and, encouraging women to take a more active role in their breast health. "That I am fine today and stronger than before, I credit to early detection," says Newton-John.
